Senior Chore Program
About the Senior Chore Program
Our goal is to help seniors live independently and happily in their homes for as long as possible. The Senior Chore Program is funded in part by the Older Americans Act grant through the Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging Inc.
“I don’t have enough words to thank you. With this help, we can stay here. We could never afford to go into assisted living. We’ll stay here as long as we have you.”
To inquire about joining the program, contact Karon Sanigular at 651-472-3451 or Karon.McSween-Sanigular@nyfs.org.
Who is eligible for the Senior Chore Program?
Any person that is 60 years old and lives within the areas that we serve:
Birchwood Village, Falcon Heights, Hugo, Lauderdale, Little Canada, Mahtomedi, Mounds View, New Brighton, North Oaks, Roseville, Shoreview, St. Anthony, Vadnais Heights, White Bear Lake and White Bear Township
The program pairs youth or adult workers with seniors that are in need of outdoor chore services. NYFS will pay the worker and will ask you to contribute a cost share amount according to your income. Payment is a donation and not a bill.
This program also accepts special waiver insurance reimbursements.
Lawn mowing, gardening, garage cleaning, snow removal and seasonal chores. All work will be conducted in accordance with safe social distancing protocols to protect both the worker and the senior.
Senior Connections Program
The Senior Connections program provides telephone check-in calls to seniors isolated by the COVID-19 pandemic and connects them to local services and resources.
If you or someone you know would like to receive a friendly check-in call, or you belong to an organization needing help checking in on your senior community, please contact Karon Sanigular,
Elder Services Coordinator, at Karon.McSween-Sanigular@nyfs.org.
